Prolific producer, Emem Isong, has released her directorial debut, the ro­mantic thriller entitled, ‘Champagne’. The movie, which hit the cinemas nationwide on Friday, December 19, stars top acts like Majid Michel, Alex Ekubo, Mbong Amata, Tana Adelana, Padita Agu, Susan Peters, and Anita Chris among others.

‘Champagne’ explores the concept of an open marriage between a young couple, Tare Hopewell (Alex Ekubo) and his young wife, Champagne (Rose Zimu). The couple date other unsuspecting people mainly for money and perks until they bite off more than they can chew when they meet the enigmatic Mr. Douglas (Majid Michel). Suddenly, this seemingly harmless game of ‘hit and run’ turns into a deadly game of high stakes where the winner takes all.

Shot in Johannesburg, South Africa and Hous­ton Texas, United States of America, ‘Cham­pagne’ marks the directorial debut of Emem Isong who also doubles as producer. Uduak Oguamanam emerges the associate producer of the movie while cinematography was by Beanca and Tom Robson on the South African end, and James Costello in America.
