Doyin Okupe just set his boss PGEJ up...lol

Presidential aide Doyin Okupe just set his boss, president Jonathan, up by asking a simple question "Stealing and corruption, is there a difference?"

Well, while responding to a question on his efforts to stop corruption during a presidential media parley which aired on national TV on May 5, President Jonathan said;

“Over 70% of what are called corruption, even by EFCC and other anti-corruption agencies, is not corruption, but common stealing,” adding that corruption claims appeared “politically motivated”.

Well, some Nigerians had answers for him. See the tweets after the cut...

Must Read: Is Buhari Nigeria’s Charles de Gaulle?

LATEST UPDATE: Must Read: Is Buhari Nigeria’s Charles de Gaulle?

Must Read: Is Buhari Nigeria’s Charles de Gaulle?

If General Muhammadu Buhari is voted into power, come February 2015, the army general-now-turned democrat, will follow the footsteps of Charles De Gaulle of France, who was the man of the moment in the crucial hour of that nation.

De Gaulle was a statesman, dominant military and political leader of France for much of the period from 1940 to 1969. Like Buhari, he was a man of integrity, who refused to accept armistice with German invaders in 1940, and thereby set up his base in London, proclaimed himself the incanation of France, and created the Free French Movement. During the war, he rallied the overseas colonies (especially Africa), organized the resistance from abroad, and struggled to gain full recognition from the British and Americans. He was a firm proponent of democracy, who later became the leader of the Provisional Government of France following its liberation in 1944.

De Gaulle like Buhari, was a retired military officer; a Brigadier General, who retired in 1946, but returned in 1958 as France verged on civil war over the Algerian crisis. He was voted in as President in 1958 to 1969; the New fifth Republic of France. De Gaulle was a political stabilizer; who stabilized the turbulent political system of France, and restored the nation’s economy. He made France to dominate the European Common Market by vetoeing British entry and keeping the U.S at arms length.

It is on record that Buhari overthrew a democratically elected government of Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Shagari on the 31st of December, 1983. The military intervention was welcomed by majority of Nigerians, who were already disgusted by the corrupt and ineptitude regime that had just rigged its second term election. The Buhari/ Idiagbon regime brought changes that remain a reference point till date. “War Against Indiscipline” led to orderliness in every sector of Nigeria. For the short period the regime lasted, war against corruption and criminality were successfully fought.

Buhari’s Decree Number 4 of 1984 and the retroactive decree that led to the summary execution of Mr. Ojuolape and others, for alleged drug trafficking were dents on the new democrat record, but show me any of our past and present head of state and governments that does not have a but or short comings , then I will show you a virgin in a maternity ward. Every saint has a past. Paul the apostle, in the Bible, described himself as head of the sinners, who was not qualified to proclaim the gospel of Christ. Paul eventually wrote more than half of the New Testament books.

De Gaulle was accused for being critical to criticism, he eventually resigned his leadership position, but his reputation as the greatest of French leaders since Napoleon remains unbeatable till date.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan must have done his best, but his has not been good enough to salvage the nation from its multitude problems; such as shortage of power, unemployment, insecurity, economy downturn, poor health facilities.

The various elections so far conducted under Jonathan have been under the jack-boot of the security agents. While other African countries such as Ghana and South Africa have made a lot of improvement, Nigerian elections have been characterized by executive intimidation. President Jonathan has continued to defend the anomalies in our electoral processes. He has equally justified the use of soldiers and other security agents as a necessary evil. But by now, our leaders ought to live beyond anti-democratic practices. Democracy is about freedom of choice as guaranteed by the Constitution. Nigerians must be allowed to determine those who govern them through the ballot.

The August 9, 2014 governorship election in Osun, where about 100, 000 security agents and sniffing dogs were deployed to “capture” Osun and the insistence of the Presidency to rob the people of their choice, despite their resistance, is a dangerous signal to what Jonathan can do in the February 2015 general elections. The opposition must be at alert as we approach the campaigns and the election. It was Nicole Machavali, who described power as sword, and that once it is worn, everything should be done to keep it. The PDP will not surrender power easily to any opposition, but with vigilant and internal cooperation among those who want a change, PDP is beatable.

De Gaulle oversaw the development of French atomic weapons and promoted foreign policy independent of ‘ Anglo Saxim’ . The Buhari administration, if voted in, should be able to take us beyond clueless foreign policy, to a new era, where our voice as a nation would not only he heard, but we must be seen as a leading African nation that other countries in the continent will be willing and happy to follow through pragmatic and dynamic foreign policy.

“Our friends at the Republican covention were more than happy to talk about everything they think is wrong with America, but they didn’t have much to say about how they would make it right. They want your vote, but they don’t want you to know their plan.” This President Barack Obama’s statement is applicable to the Nigerian leaders since 1999 that have been running the nation adrift.

The ruling party has been talking about how they would fixed our economy, oil price had been sold for $106 for 15 years, yet the number of jobless youths keeps being on the ascendancy, health sector is worse hit, as health workers and doctors have closed down the hospitals till today; poor funding of tertiary institutions, poor road network across the nation. The Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment tragedy is an open secret. Till date, nobody has been held responsible for it. Neither did Mr. President fulfill the promise made to relatives, who lost their loved ones over jobs that were never avaliable.

The Chibok girls adoption tragedy, the late response to the incident and the politics introduced to the calamity, will forever haunt this present Federal Government, whose constitutional responsibility it is, as encapsulates in Section 14 sub-section 4 of 1999 Constitution; to ensure security and welfare of the citizens. Till date, the Boko Haram insurgency has become octopus, that has killed thousands of people and is still killing and maiming.

On the accusation of religious bigotry against Buhari, we must not allow religion to destroy our nation, Buhari himself has admitted that he is not a muslim fanatic, what we should do is to accept what Sir. Ahmadu Bello told the Christians mission that “Differences in religions need not bar people from working together for the good of all.” Alhaji Bello further told the great Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe that we cannot forget our differences as suggested by the latter, rather he stated: “ No, let us understand our differences. I am a Muslim and a notherner.

You are a Christian, an Easterner. By understanding our differences, we can build unity in our country.” Buhari’s first daughter got married to a Christian easterner, an evidence that debunked the insinuation of religious bigotry.

LATEST UPDATE: Jonathan, Mua’zu, Kalu in private meeting

Jonathan, Mua’zu, Kalu in private meeting

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Presidency and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC), have embarked on frantic moves to placate aggrieved chieftains of the party who are disenchanted with the way and manner governors have appropriated the party structures in various states to themselves.

One of such trouble shooting efforts by the leadership of the party and the Presidency, Daily Sun can authoritatively reveal, was the move to ensure that amity returns to the Abia State chapter of the party and dissuade former governor, Orji Uzor Kalu from dumping the ruling party.

Daily Sun checks revealed that the PDP chieftain has been under intense pressures from his loyalists to seek for an alternative political platform in Abia State following the overbearing posture of the state governor, Theodore Orji.

But a source disclosed to Daily Sun that worried about the unsavoury development in Abia State chapter of the party, President Goodluck Jonathan held a meeting with Kalu on Tuesday, to find a solution to the intractable crisis .

Daily Sun source revealed that the former Abia State governor met with President Goodluck Jonathan in company with the PDP national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and former Taraba State governor, Jolly Nyame.

‘’They were sighted in a black jeep, driving into the Presidential Villa, using the President’s private entrance,‘’ the source said, further revealing that in the President’s waiting room as at the time Mu’azu led Kalu and Nyame in were Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha and House Majority Leader, Mulikat Adeola- Akande.

An aide of the national chairman of the party, who also confirmed that a meeting was held told Daily Sun in confidence that ‘’it lasted for over an hour. it was all about genuine reconciliation and how to move the party forward.

‘’Mr. President said emphatically that Orji Kalu is an asset to PDP and everything must be done to encourage him to stay in the party. The party is working to ensure reconciliation with its aggrieved chieftains, not only in Abia State, but nationwide. We don’t want them to leave the party.”

Speaking with journalists when contacted on phone, the former Abia State governor, confirmed meeting with President Jonathan, but rebuffed pressures to reveal what was discussed.

Kalu said: ’’ It was a private meeting between me and Mr. President and I am satisfied with what the President said.”

When contacted, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuden Abati said: “the meeting was a private one but I am sure it has to do with what’s gong on in Abia State.”

Kalu had, last month, written to the national chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu, informing the latter of his withdrawal from the race for the Abia North senatorial ticket of the PDP.

In the letter entitled: “Withdrawal from Abia North Senatorial District Race”, and addressed to Mu’azu, Kalu premised his decision on personal sacrifice to save Abia PDP from crisis.

The former Abia State governor in the letter dated November 24, 2014, expressed consternation over what he called the arm-twisting tactics of Abia State governor, Theodore Orji, in the choice of aspirants for elective offices on PDP platform.

He further expressed regret that Governor Orji deliberately allowed eminent Abia citizens to resign their positions to vie for the governorship position, when he knew, ahead of time, that he had a candidate in mind.

I am ready for police invitation- Aminu Tambuwal

LATEST UPDATE: I am ready for police invitation- Aminu Tambuwal

There were reports yesterday that the Inspector General of Police was making plans to 'arrest' the speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, over Thursday's drama at the National Assembly. The speaker, in a statement released by his media adviser, Imam Dalhatu, says he's ready for any invitation by the police. Find his statement below...

I am ready for police invitation- Aminu Tambuwal

The attention of the Hon Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR, has been drawn to publications in the media to the effect that the Inspector General of Police has ordered that he, Speaker, be invited to the Force Headquarters and that he be arrested if he resisted.

The Honorable Speaker wishes to state that he is a law abiding citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who has no immunity against arrest and prosecution except privileges as may be provided by the Legislative Powers and Privileges Act.

Accordingly , the Hon Speaker states for the records that he is available, ready and willing to answer any lawful invitation from any of the Security agencies on any matter for which they may require his attention.

The Speaker expresses dismay at the unprofessional conduct of the Nigerian Police in the attempt to stop him from accessing the House of Representatives chambers on the 20th November 2014 to preside over the Special Session of the House on the State of Emergency Extension requested by Mr President, for which he had recalled members from their working recess.

Most disgraceful is the false statement later issued by the Police in which they claimed that in the lawful exercise of their duties “ Alh Aminu Tambuwal CFR, arrived the venue with a motley crowd, who broke the cordon, assaulted the Police and evaded due process”. This blatant falsehood coming from a law enforcement agency, that is expected to be neutral and lawful, is unfortunate, to say the least.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Hon Speaker came to National Assembly accompanied by Hon Members as is customary during any sitting of the House. They all came with their official vehicles but were disallowed from driving into the premises. Certainly Hon Members, who arrived the precinct of the National Assembly in response to a call to perform an urgent, critical national assignment, cannot be described by any self respecting institution as “a motley crowd"

It is important to remind the Nigeria Police Force that as a public institution that provides common services for all the arms of government, they must not allow themselves to be used by one of the arms to undermine the others.

Malam Imam Imam @imamdimam

Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the Hon Speaker

The Acting Governor of Taraba, Alhaji Abubakar Danladi, has appointed, Mr Timothy Kataps, as the Secretary to the State Government.

Some had to scale the gates after all entry points were sealed off leaving only one open where many were thoroughly frisked and some turned back. There are allegations that most of the lawmakers turned back were from the APC. The police at some point even fired teargas and some lawmakers reportedly fainted.

Tambuwal, who had been prevented from driving through the second gate after passing through the first gate of the Assembly complex was smuggled into the Chamber by loyalists who overpowered security operatives at the second and third gate. The House has now gone into executive session.

Shoking VIDEO: “Kill and crush them” Katsina State Governor Incites Violence Against Political Opponent

Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State has been caught on video urging his supporters to "kill" and crush his perceived political opponents in that state. He made the declaration while addressing PDP party members in the state, interesting, his supporters cheered him on.

What A Shame! If you recall, Governor Shema is no newcomer to murky waters and controversies, back in September, he was accused of having ordered the arrest of a student - Abdulmalik Sa'idu, who reportedly spent 20 days in detention for criticising the Governor on Facebook. Similar calls have triggered violence in other countries including the East African country, Rwanda, where the majority Hutus’ description of the minority Tutsis as “cockroaches”, helped fired a 100-day murderous campaign that saw over 800,000 Tutsis killed. Watch shameful act by Governor below:

“PDP has touched the lives of every citizen of Katsina state, either as an individual or your family in general. “If your child is sick you must take him to the hospital to receive treatment for free. “You must use the well-built road that PDP constructed to go to your house. “Your children have never paid a single dime for his education in this state since I became the governor in 2007 and that includes WAEC and NECO. “We should thank Allah for this. “If you look around, some states that I will not mention here, they keep making the headlines that PDP could not do this or that, but they should know Katsina state is PDP and we have done it. “You should not be bothered with ‘cockroaches of politics.’ “Cockroaches are only found in the toilet even at homes. “If you see a cockroach in your house what do you do? Crowd responds: “You kill it!” Gov. Shema agrees: “Crush them! “Anyone who does anything against you we’ll retaliate, am telling you now. “Before now people from the opposition will humiliate us in the PDP and we will say don’t do anything about it but now I am telling you to fight back and ‘quote me
